With that in mind, it’s best that you know your options in and out so you can make an informed decision.

In this post, PJ Sullivan Construction discusses the different types of driveway materials and their individual advantages and disadvantages.

If you’re looking to have a variety in size and design for your driveway, then cobblestone may be the material for you. Another advantage that this material has is you can tell if it’s of quality make with one glance, it’s very durable and it’s fairly easy to repair. However, the fact that they’re uneven makes snow removal challenging work.

Asphalt

Like every residential construction work, asphalt is one of the most popular materials that homeowners gravitate to. This is the same for driveway installations. The advantages of asphalt driveways include less prone to frost, ease of snow removal and it affordability. However, it is relatively demanding in maintenance and has a tendency to crack, which will require immediate repairs.

Cement

Cement (also known as concrete) is an affordable option if you’re looking for longevity. It also has durable surfaces, which can last for 50 years or more when well-installed and maintained. However, it’s drawback is that it’s not the most attractive building material available and will require annual maintenance to ensure its longevity.
