What to Know About James Hardie and the HardiePanel Line

Abrupt temperature changes can be harsh on your exterior, which is why you need to install siding that can handle your area’s climate. For homes in temperate climates, siding contractors would usually recommend fiber cement siding, which is resistant to the freeze-thaw cycle and common siding issues like mold and pest damage.

Keep in mind that the durability of your siding depends, in large part, on the quality of materials used to manufacture it. That’s why it’s best to stick to reputable brands such as James Hardie®. After all, there’s a reason why James Hardie’s HardiePanel™ product line is North America’s most popular brand of siding.

HardieZone® System

Remember: There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach in home improvement projects, and siding replacement projects are no exception.  That’s why James Hardie created the HardieZone® System—the company classified their siding products under varying climate zones. The HZ5® product line is made specifically for temperate areas that experience abrupt changes in temperature while HZ10® is for areas that receive high rainfall or experience storms and extreme weather events frequently.

Classic Aesthetic Appeal

Thanks to its classic aesthetic appeal, wooden siding remains popular. One significant drawback, however, is that wood has high maintenance needs. If you want your exterior to have wooden elements but don’t want its high maintenance requirements, you can take advantage of James Hardie products that can mimic the look and feel of natural wooden siding, but are easier to clean and maintain.

Important note: Keep in mind your siding should complement the rest of your exterior, especially your roof. If your roof is starting to look a bit worn-out, you should have one of your local roof replacement companies inspect your roof for leaks.
